Muhaidat Sponsors Zarqa University Pharmaceutical Research Center Opening

On Sunday 7-16-2023, the Director General of the Food and Drug Administration, Prof. Dr. Nizar Muhaidat, sponsored the opening of the Pharmaceutical Research Center at Zarqa University.

 

The ceremony was attended by His Excellency the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Engineer Samir Habashneh, the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Nidal Al Ramahi, the President of the Jordanian Pharmaceutical Producers Union, the President of the Arab Pharmaceutical Producers Union, and a number of directors of pharmaceutical manufacturing and drug analysis companies and experts in the field.

The sponsor of the celebration, Prof. Dr. Nizar Muhaidat, expressed his happiness at the inauguration of the center as the first research center accredited by the General Authority for Food and Drug to conduct pre-clinical studies. He also stressed that the center's accreditation will open prospects for research cooperation with many local and international institutions and companies, in addition to attracting investment in drug studies, whether on the internal level or in cooperation with local pharmaceutical companies or the Federation of Drug Producers.

Muhaidat praised the high infrastructure in the center and the distinguished scientific and research level at Zarqa University, which always keeps pace with the various scientific developments in the pharmaceutical sciences and pharmaceutical industries, enabling it to graduate a generation of promising youth and supply the pharmaceutical sector.

Prof. Dr. Nidal Al Ramahi, the president of the university, said that the university is proud of its prestigious position among local and Arab universities. He stressed that the opening of the Pharmaceutical Research Center comes from a hard-earned achievement. This achievement has received the support of the Chairman of the Zarqa Educational and Investment Company, Dr. Mahmoud Abu Shaira.

As he pointed out, Zarqa University's Pharmaceutical Research Center has been accredited by the General Authority for Food and Drug as the first center to conduct non-clinical experiments for pharmaceutical products, following the achievement of the global requirements for such experiments, as well as its success in the examination and evaluation conducted by the General Authority for Food and Drug."

In addition to expressing his appreciation for the efforts of all Zarqa University employees in achieving Zarqa University's vision and goals, Prof. Dr. Nidal Al-Ramahi, the president of the university mentioned that cooperation with the industrial sector is of particular interest to Zarqa University as partners in success and development.

For her part, the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Zarqa University, Dr. Ahlam Al-Kilani, confirmed that the establishment and opening of the Pharmaceutical Research Center comes as a continuation of the faculty's march and its relentless pursuit towards achieving its vision and mission derived from the vision and mission of the university, in excellence in scientific research, and support for creativity and innovation, especially in the field of the pharmaceutical industry and serving the academic and pharmaceutical community. She also explained that the idea of establishing a specialized research pharmaceutical center received support from the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Zarqa Company for Education and Investment, Dr. Mahmoud Abu Shaira, to start the project with the construction and equipment of the animal house and its accessories, and to expand in full swing by establishing an integrated research center, equipped with the latest equipment, and includes among its flanks research cadres. And a technician specialized in drug studies and analysis.

The attendees expressed their pride in what Zarqa University has achieved and its achievement of local and international standards, whether in the scientific or applied aspect. They also expressed their pride with the university’s openness to and companies which will result in achieving the university vision and purposeful mission.

Zarqa University Participates in the Twenty-sixth Arab Pharmaceutical Industries Forum

Under the title "The Future of Biosubstitutes Industry in Arab Countries", Zarqa University's Faculty of Pharmacy represented by the Pharmaceutical Research Center participated in the 26th Arab Pharmaceutical Industries Forum. The Forum was inaugurated by the Prime Minister's representatives, Dr. Firas Al-Hawari and Bishr Al-Khasawneh were the Ministers of Health and Health.

 

The Forum continues for three days with Arab and international participation. it was attended by Representatives of Arab and foreign health authorities and concerned persons with the pharmaceutical industry in Arab countries, and lecturers from the United States of America, Europe, Jordan, Syria, Iraq, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, the Sultanate of Oman and Yemen, as well as companies specialized in the manufacture of medicines, equipment, supplies and laboratory devices for the pharmaceutical industries. .

During the forum, the Jordanian Center for International Exhibitions in Makkah Mall will be hosting the fifth session of the Arab Pharma Exposition (ARAB Pharma EXPO).

Prof. Nidal Al Ramahi, the University's President, said that the university places a high value on relationships with local community institutions and industrial and commercial companies, as they are tributaries of academics and future graduates, as well as supporters of improvements.

The Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Dr. Ahlam Al-Kilani, emphasized the importance of participating in the Arab Pharmaceutical Industries Forum to present the experience of Zarqa University in establishing the Pharmaceutical Research Center, which is the first center of its kind in the Kingdom and the Arab region because of its modern equipment that contributes to the preparation of results and studies with high accuracy.

She pointed out that the center has become accredited by the Saudi Food and Drug Administration to conduct non-clinical experiments for pharmaceutical products, as the first center in the Kingdom and the Arab region to obtain this accreditation, after fulfilling the global requirements for conducting such experiments for pharmaceutical products according to the examination and evaluation undertaken by the General Authority for Food and Drug to ensure its safety.

Zarqa University Holds an ISO17025 Training Course in Cooperation with the Jordanian Institution for

The Pharmaceutical Research Center at the University of Zarqa, in collaboration with The Jordanian Standards and Metrology Organization, organized a training course for the employees of the Pharmaceutical Research Center from the 3rd to 6th July 2023. The course titled 'General Requirements for Testing and Calibration Laboratories Competence according to ISO17025.

 

The aim of the training course was to enhance understanding and knowledge of ISO17025 standards among employees, with the goal of obtaining accreditation in the near future for the Pharmaceutical Research Center. The training included fundamental concepts and terminology related to metrology and the necessary requirements for obtaining the standard.

 

The course also covered introducing employees to quality control activities in laboratories according to standard specifications. It also covered developing policies and procedures in the laboratories.

 

Dr. Anas Al-Shishani, the director of the Pharmaceutical Research Center, emphasized that the purpose of conducting this course is to improve the efficiency of the center's team as a preparatory step to achieve international accreditation ISO 17025, which focuses on quality systems in testing laboratories."
